The Role
As a member of our Production team, overseeing acreage and production forecasting for cereals and oilseeds in Europe and the Black Sea, the main elements of this role consist of:
- Gathering information on potential arable crop productions in your assigned countries, from a diverse range of sources (contacts on the ground, meteorological data, satellite data, official statistics, press reports, specialist publications, etc.)
- Analysing and using this information to produce acreage and yield forecasts
- Participating in writing our reports and contributing to the news updates on our website www.strategie-grains.com
- Developing modelling tools to improve our yield forecasting for the main arable crops
- Listening to the needs of our clients (notably in terms of providing additional information, requests for specific research, training, etc.)
- Monitoring the evolution of growing areas and yields in the medium and long term (including a focus on impacts of agricultural and regulatory policies).
The Profile
- You will hold a master's degree or doctorate in agroeconomics, agriculture and/or plant ecophysiology
- You have competencies in modelling, programming and/or data analysis skills
- You have good interpersonal skills, especially for information gathering by telephone (this position is mostly sedentary with some travel) and for client relationships
- You have strong knowledge of meteorology and climatology
- You have good spoken French and English, and very strong writing skills
- You are a capable team player
- You have a rigorous approach, natural curiosity and dynamism
- You have an interest in economics and/or agricultural markets
Conditions :
We are offering a permanent, full-time contract
Office location: Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne (77), France - possibility of homeworking for several days per week
Salary: commensurate with experience and profile
